Still Waiting

Don’t worry we didn’t forget about 'yinz guys'. As you may recall from our last post, we explained that our Dossier was submitted to Colombia for approval. We were told that it would take 3 to 4 months before we would receive an official letter stating that we were approved and on the “waiting list”. Well it has been 3 ½ months. No word yet!

So what have we been up to? Well we've attended a few seminars given by our adoption agency. They have been really interesting and we are meeting others who are adopting children from all over the world. One seminar in particular was on “Medical and Developmental Issues” led by a pediatrician who specializes in international adoptions, Dr. Sarah Springer. Dr. Springer was awesome and very patient with everyone's questions. I think we have already found a pediatrician for the boys! There was a lot of information presented and a few things that stood out were concerning immunizations and the development levels of children raised in orphanages. But Dr. Springer's bottom line was that the children adapt so quickly with patient and loving parents. And I think we can handle that!

Oh...also...Scott has FINALLY talked me into a theme for the boy’s bedroom. And...yep! you guessed it...Steelers and Penguins. I must admit they have really cute bedding and accessories for both teams. And you know that's what's foremost on little 3-6 year old boys minds! So we are going ahead with the 'Black and Gold'!

Well I think that's about it for an update. We started this adventure back in August and while there are times when we get excited and wish it would go faster - we know that it was God that placed this on our hearts and we are placing our trust in Him - daily. It's gonna be in His time that we will be united with our children. The Bible is full of references to this - one verse in particular: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority." (Acts 1:7) We just need to trust in Him until that time or date that He had set way before Scott and I were even born. And even tho we don't know their names or we don't know what they look like yet - we know He is preparing the boys for us and we pray that He watches over them until we meet as a family and as a part of God's family.

Thanks so much to everyone for your prayers and support - we'll let yinz know as soon as we hear from Colombia!

Love,
Donna

How Wonderful you sound!

It was so refreshing to read your message this morning--you sound so full of energy and enthusiasm! It is so much to get ready for really, and with your organization, you seem to be going about everything perfectly. It is really exciting that the most exciting chapter is soon going to be written about you hearing the news of your chosen boys, and make the final plans to bring them home. You and Scott will be in my thought and prayers as the day approaches that you all are together! How awesome that will be for you! Thanks for the update!

Love is Patient...

You've read the rest, but it all starts with patience. Beth Ann and I have a plaque with the verse in our bedroom near the door, next to the light switch. ( for a full detailed schematic scale drawing see me later) Our 10 month old son Steven, thinks that it is the coolest thing. He wants to feel it, hold it, and most likely eat it! I pray that your boys will also come to know the truth of what God's Love is and desire to feel it, touch it, and be sustained by God's word. For now, we start with Love is patient, looking forward to the fullness that Paul describes in his letter to Corinth. Peace to you as you wait for God's perfect timing to share His love through you with these children. Nate

Hello, from Fred and Kim

Scott and Donna, talk about waiting in the Lord and acknowledging patience. You guys are wonderful and we know that any little boy will be fully blessed to have you as parents. We'll be praying that you hear something soon. All the work and preparation you have gone through is truly commendable. We send you our love and prayers. Your friends in Christ, Kim & Fred Cappuccio

The Final Month

I think this is it. It's the 4th month and your adoption approval is probably on its way. We all think about the two of you waiting and waiting. The theme for the boys' room is very appropriate. I visited a store in Station Square that had a Pittsburgh Steelers boxcar for sale and . . .

Waiting With You!!

You've got a good 6 month lead on us...but we are waiting with you and eagerly anticipating the day you learn of your approval from Colombia and then get into the REAL waiting. We are excited to be on this journey with you! I appreciate your perspective and words of wisdom. Blessings! Holly & Robe
