Paperwork is off to Colombia and Scott rambles a bit

| 7 Comments | No TrackBacks

We'll start with some good news. As of Friday our paper work is completed and we were told that it is on the way to Colombia. I gotta say that it really went pretty smoothly - and Donna did an awesome job of keeping everything straight and hustling the work right along - she's not one to let the grass grow under her feet. Well - now it becomes a waiting game. After the paperwork gets to our facilitator in Colombia for her to translate into Spanish. We've heard that this could take anywhere from 2-7 weeks depending on how busy she is at the moment. After that they decide on which casa privadas it will be sent to for us to get a referral. Then the waiting really sets in. Getting children referred to us could take a week to one year. But we are just so happy to actually be this far. To be waiting for our boys.

On another note...while finishing off the dossier is exciting and all...rather than talk about forms and timeframes (This may come as a shock to some of you but Donna handled most of the sending/receiving/filling out of the paperwork...yeah I know that kind of stuff is SOOO right up my alley and I was really chomping at the bit to sink my teeth into an I-71C but alas she handled it). But that kinda brings me to what I wanted to update you on this week...Donna.

I cannot tell you how beautiful my wife has looked lately. Each and everyday I see her handling all the ins and outs of this process I can't help but love her more and more. She truly has been amazing and I cannot think of a woman more qualified to be a mom.

In one of the first posts we talked about how Donna and I see God working in our lives and giving us the blessings that are our families, our home, our friends and our livelihoods. But one of the biggest blessings He gives to me everyday is Donna. God has put her here with me for a reason and as I look back on the last 4 years with Donna I see exactly what He was doing. He was preparing her and me for this new job - this new responsibility of parenting the children He is preparing for us. So while I know I can share with the children all the things that God has been so awesome in giving to me - the one thing I really, really want them to have is the blessing of having Donna as their mom. God has given her to me to share with them - I just know it. So while I really am anxious to play ball, watch the Steelers and the Penguins with my boys - the one thing I look forward to most is to see Donna with a child her arms and to sit in my office working and hear from somewhere in the house a small voice yell out 'MOMMA!' (with a Spanish accent of course). That, to me, would make all of this worth it. I'll let you know when it happens.

Catch you later,
Scott (a.k.a skrebs)

my first time

I haven't felt compelled yet to respond to the blog updates until today. I just printed Scott's update and handed it to my husband Rich and said: "Now this is a man in love with his wife, this is a man who sees his wife's inner beauty, he appreciates and adores the woman he married for more than just taking care of him as a wife. He sees and appreciates her inner beauty and her potential to be a great mom." Scott I commend you for raising the bar for men! I commend you being able to share your personal and endearing feelings with your friends. And of course, we are sooooooooo excited for the boys to get her.

My Sister is AMAZING!

And she will be a great Momma! Scott, you will be an awesome Daddy too! Heidi, I'm printing this for Alan as well!!!!! Congratulations on getting the paperwork done in record breaking time!

Good job!

Scott and Donna, Now you get to show your patience. Unc and I know that will be the hard part. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long and we'll be once again adding to the Totem Pole Second Generation. Love, Aunt Eileen

Rambling?

Scott, what you had to say about your wife was not rambling. It was great to hear. For those of us who have remained faithful to one spouse for many years, I admire you for your openness and know your relationship will last. The love you two share will be transferred to your children which is not the norm for society today. I can't wait to see your two boys. Both you and Donna will make terriffic parents. May God speed the paperwork.

Lucky Kids!!!!!!!!

If only every child born into this world was looked forward like these children, wouldn't it be a lovely world indeed!!!!!! Lotsa work, lotsa waiting....such reward!

Words...

Congratulations on the completion of your paperwork :o)!!! (Way to go Donna!!! ;o) I will be praying for His will in all channels the paperwork will now be traveling. His timing is always perfect. I agree with Heidi, thank you for raising the bar and being an example for other men.

What a blessing...

What a blessing to welcome children into a home where there is such a healthy and vibrant love between their mother and father. Children learn from what they see as well as from what they hear - yinz guys are good teachers!
